Wordpress Large Image Upload

If you’re here, you don’t need me to describe the problem to you. The dreaded HTTP error on large image upload to WordPress. You’ve already tried 6.3 trillion solutions and they all sucked. So, try this one. And be done!

Add the following lines to your theme’s functions.php file:

add_filter( ‘wp_image_editors’, ‘change_graphic_lib’ );
function change_graphic_lib($array) {
return array( ‘WP_Image_Editor_GD’, ‘WP_Image_Editor_Imagick’ );

This happened to be me on GoDaddy, but I imagine it also affects other shared hosting plans where you’re trying to upload a large image or other large file.

Lots of suggestions include upping the php memory and max upload size limits, by editing .htaccess and phpinfo. This one seemed to do it for me.

I hope it helps you too. :)
